The Liberation Lounge - Sista Midwife Edition - Giving Voice to Birth will be a live music open mic event Featuring Caren Green and iCON. We will have some of the nation’s top poets and vocal artists. They will pay tribute to mothers, fathers, grandparents, babies and family. They will share the stories of their wombs while they inform and inspire and give voice to birth. September is Infant Mortality Awareness Month. This event is the third event in our series: The Art of Birthing. TAOB is a series of events of artistic expression celebrating the women who give birth and giving honor to the babies lost too soon. With productions of visual, creative, spoken word and performing arts our aim will be two -fold: 1. To educate the community about infant mortality, perinatal disparities and solutions to improving birth outcomes and 2. To raise funds to support our free community programming and doula training scholarships.
