Preservation Hall Foundation is proud to partner with AfricaNOLA to integrate its Africa Brass Master Class Series into our educational classes on traditional New Orleans jazz. The Africa Brass workshops will teach students the traditional West African roots of this music, and  they will also learn a new musical style that integrates West African music, New Orleans brass, and jazz. AfricaNOLA has proposed an exciting curriculum in which students learn the West African melodies and rhythms that serve as the basis for much of New Orleans music. Many students at Preservation Hall plan to pursue careers as professional musicians, and participation in the Africa Brass master classes will be crucial in developing students’ unique modes of creative expression, which is avital for success in the competitive entertainment industry.
