(2007) This film tells the story of how one online community – the users of okayplayer.com – has overcome the nebulous nature of the Internet to build a network of meaningful relationships based on their common passion for music. The universal language has inspired fans of hip hop artists like The Roots, Common, D’Angelo, Jill Scott, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Erykah Badu to get online and speak with each other. Starring Questlove, Common, Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, Tanya Morgan, and Che Grand.
This screening is part of MUSICALLY SPEAKING, a new series of music-themed movies and documentaries on selected Mondays, curated/hosted by DJ Soul Sister, and co-presented by Press Street, Charitable Film Network, and WWOZ FM.
