The 50-year anniversary of the 1967 "Summer of Love" is here and we at the WWOZ Wednesday night Kitchen Sink Show are celebrating it in a couple of ways throughout the summer. We will be highlighting music specifically L.P.’s or Albums as they were called back then released in 1967. We are polling our Peeps asking them what were there favorite releases of that year. We also have some other surprises and treats.

One treat is the "WWOZ 2017 Summer of Love Live Music Series from OZ Beach." Our plan is to broadcast one band live each month throughout the summer from our beach here on the banks of the Mississippi River.

For the first month I am very proud and excited to be presenting Malevitus on Wednesday, June 7. We are planning to have them perform and broadcast live around 10:30p.

I stumbled on these folks back in the Summer of 2016 at B.J.’s. I think it was their first or second time they have performed. I have only missed 1 or 2 of their shows since then. I have seen them come together and progress beyond my belief over this past year. They are a "Super-Group" with each member performing in multiple bands around town.

Malevitus formed last summer after many years of collaboration between it's members in different projects.

Tiana Hux Dews, performance artist, poet and musician has been performing in New Orleans and internationally as MC Sweet Tea with her dancers, da Tastee Hotz, combining rap and burlesque since 2001.

Rob Cambre- Programs the experimental and improv jazz concert series Anxious Sound since 1997, Rough 7, Skin Verb, Bingo!, Death Posture and Black Market Butchers

Marcus Bronson- Shock Patina, Skin Verb, Move Ovum, The Oaks and 9thward Marching Band

Michael Andrepont-Rough 7, Happy Talk Band, Morning 40 Federation, Bingo!, Black Market Butchers and Andre Williams

We hope you tune in and make WWOZ your soundtrack to the 2017 Summer of Love.

Peace and Love!
