Preservation Brass is the resident brass band affiliated with the venerable Preservation Hall. While Preservation Hall’s mainstay jazz band focuses on traditional New Orleans jazz (and accompanying instrumentation, including banjo, piano, etc.) the Preservation Brass ensemble jubilantly swings out in the tradition of the legendary Dejan’s Olympia Brass Band. The Preservation Brass is comprised of some of the city’s – indeed, the world’s - finest brass band musicians, and can be heard at home in New Orleans or touring across the globe. Renowned trumpeter Mark Braud is at the helm as the Preservation Brass offer up a repertoire including traditional New Orleans classics, spirituals, and the high-energy marching tunes heard in street parades.
