Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band

Roy "Chubby" Carrier hails from a family of zydeco legends. Born in Churchpoint, Louisiana in 1967, Chubby's father and grandfather (Roy and Warren Carrier) and cousins (Bebe and Calvin Carrier) are all hailed as premier zydeco musicians.

Chubby started drumming with his father's band at age 12, and picked up the accordian - his main instrument today - at age 15. Chubby didn't squander a minute, by the time he started The Bayou Swamp Band at age 18 he'd already toured the world with the great Terrence Simien.

Chubby is a tall man, but he just isn't big enough to contain the contagious charisma that shines out of him. If you're not already dancing, it's impossible not to simply shake it and grin while watching Chubby & The Bayou Swamp Band onstage. Chubby and the band have recorded 10 albums since 1989. His latest album, Zydeco Junkie, won a 2010 Grammy for Best Zyedeco or Cajun Music.
