And Then Came Humans

And Then Came Humans is an improvisation-heavy duo named after an idea posited by Terrence McKenna that humans evolved from apes due to the consumption of magic mushrooms. Percussionist Ryan Scott Long and guitarist Mike Sopko take their genesis to heart, offering mesmerizing takes on classic jazz, hip hop, Doja Cat and Harry Styles. Since 2018 the group has entranced audiences from the Old Point Bar to Provo, Utah; their EP, In Heat Wave, includes the title cut and the memorable “Defend the Land.”
